Welcome to MOVE 2025 in Tartu, Estonia!
It is my pleasure to welcome you to MOVE 2025, taking place in Tartu, Estonia. Much has been said about Tartu and Estonia as the venue for this event, but I want to emphasize that Tartu, home to one of the oldest universities in Northern Europe, has been a cradle of science and innovation for over 400 years. Founded by Swedish kings, this historic city has long been a hub for academic excellence and discovery.
By coming to Tartu, you are stepping into a place where history meets cutting-edge research. Despite its small size, this charming city in the northeastern border of Europe offers a beautiful old town, stunning architecture, and a welcoming atmosphere. With a population of just under 100,000, where the majority are students and young professionals from Esstonia, Europe and the world, Tartu exudes a unique, multicultural energy.
During MOVE 2025, we have designed a program that allows you to experience the richness of this city while also diving deep into ground breaking science. We believe that Tartu deserves to be discovered, and we are excited to showcase its scientific and cultural vibrancy to you.
The Science of MOVE 2025
Scientific discussions at MOVE 2025 will highlight the evolution and maturity of the extracellular vesicle (EV) field. As seen in MOVE 2024 in Serbia, our field has reached a critical turning point—questioning some of our previous assumptions and refining our understanding of EV applications, functions, and roles.
For years, we may have interpreted EVs based on what we wanted to see, rather than what they truly are. This meeting will challenge misconceptions and focus on the fundamental physiological roles of EVs. We aim to separate myths from realities and provide a clearer perspective on how EVs function and their real potential.
For those who join us, MOVE 2025 will be an eye-opening experience, helping you redefine your research approach and future directions in the EV field. If you seek a wake-up call about the true nature and applications of EVs, this is the place to be.
A Platform for the Next Generation
MOVE is an initiative born from nearly all European EV societies, showcasing Europe’s leadership in advancing science and technology. It also serves as a bridge, fostering global collaborations and welcoming researchers from all over the world.
One of the core principles of MOVE is its dedication to the next generation—young scientists, PhD students, and early-career researchers who are shaping the future of the field. The MOVE 2025 program will prioritize oral presentations from young scientists, ensuring that their work is at the forefront of the discussions. Even those who are not selected for oral presentations will have ample time for poster sessions, which will take place in a relaxed and engaging setting, complete with beverages and networking opportunities.
Beyond scientific presentations, MOVE provides a unique environment to connect with peers and leading scientists, fostering long-lasting collaborations and partnerships. Whether you are a young researcher or a principal investigator, this is a rare opportunity to expand your professional network and create meaningful connections that could impact your future research.
Research School: A Unique Learning Opportunity
Before MOVE 2025, we will host the 9th Research School on Extracellular Vesicles from October 2–4, 2025 in Tartu. Over the years, more than 200 participants have attended this school, which provides hands-on training and foundational knowledge in working with EVs.
This year, we are honoured to have some of the best experts in the field joining us as instructors and lecturers. If you are new to the field, a PhD student, or a researcher from another scientific discipline looking to enter EV research, this is the perfect opportunity to gain practical experience and theoretical insights before immersing yourself in the latest discoveries at MOVE 2025.The attendance of Research School is free and registration will be first come, first serve basis.
Join Us in Tartu!
MOVE 2025 will be a unique event, bringing together cutting-edge science, collaboration, and an unforgettable experience in one of Europe’s most exciting academic cities.
I look forward to welcoming you to Tartu in October 2025 and promise that we will have a fantastic program, in a fantastic city, surrounded by fantastic science—all shaped by you, our incredible participants.
